Ronaldinho to inaugurate football academy in Kolkata today
Kolkata: The Brazilian soccer star, Ronaldinho, who is scheduled to soon participate in an exhibition match in the state between Diamond Harbour FC and Sreebhumi Sporting Club, is also to inaugurate a football academy in Kolkata.
Ronaldihno is scheduled to visit the city on Monday and visit various Puja pandals, including Sreebhumi, Ahiritola Yubak Vrindo etc. He is likely to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and present his jersey to her. The footballer may also meet former Indian Cricket captain Sourav Ganguly as well.
On October 16, he is set to inaugurate his football academy in Kolkata in collaboration with Merlin Group. Merlin Rise has collaborated with Ronaldinho to set up the said football academy to train talented children in football. Merlin Group and Ronaldinho will announce some key initiatives for the development of talents in Bengal at the inaugural session.
On October 17, the international soccer star will be participating in an exhibition match between Diamond Harbour FC and Sreebhumi Sporting Club at the Bata Maidan and Stadium, Maheshtala, at 2 pm.
Given the overwhelming number of Brazil football team supporters in Kolkata, Ronaldinho, a Ballon d’Or winner, has expressed his excitement on social media ahead of his visit. He has played for eight clubs, including Barcelona and AC Milan. He represented Brazil in two world cups in 2002 and 2006. The star footballer of Brazil used to play in forward, mid-field and winger positions.
