All is fair on Earth Day in the city

With increasing awareness about the environment, the city is seen hosting more and more events to celebrate Mother Nature. The American Centre in the Capital is also joining the bandwagon.

In collaboration with the Kriti team, Cine Darbaar, World Wide Fund for Nature and All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association, the American Centre is celebrating Earth Day on April 21 and 22.

There will be a mela as part of the celebrations. In addition, there will be film screenings, music concert, puppetry and art-music-imaging workshops to appreciate the environment. The Earth Day celebrations are done to promote America’s commitment to reversing global warming.

The two-day program will begin with screening of Disneynature films Earth and Dolphin Tale which will be followed by interactive sessions with environmental experts and a quiz.

The workshops are open for children and young adults. These will include puppet making using

recyclable materials, designing an eco-friendly tote bag which children can paint and take

home, an opportunity to create musical instruments by using natural materials, an art theatre

activity which will enhance the creative and earthy senses of participants and more.

The first evening will see puppet performance Kalpataru by the Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust. The performance will be directed by Dadi Pudumjee. On the second day, there will be an Earth Day Concert with the rhythmic sounds by Music Basti and Free Earth.

Other highlights include the Earth Craft Bazaar which will offer eco friendly creations such

as bags, T shirts, organic food and body care products, handicrafts and jewellery for sale.

There will also be an Earth Cafe where one can pick up fresh food and drinks.

Time to go show your support.
