Air hostess alleges rape, blackmail by Facebook friend

A 24-year-old former air hostess has been allegedly raped by a businessman on pretext of getting a job in south-east’s Nehru place. The accused is yet to be arrested.
Late on Monday evening, the girl registered a zero FIR in Gurgaon’s civil line police station.
The girl in her complaint has alleged that a businessman in Amritsar who befriended her on the social networking website Facebook raped her four months back. Rohit Handa allegedly visited Delhi in April and called the girl to a hotel in Nehru Place where she was allegedly offered a cold drink laced with sedatives.
The girl who is a resident of Gurgaon told the police that one and a half year back she became jobless as the private airlines for which she was working for shut down.
The girl alleged that she told Handa about her problem during one of the chats on Facebook. The accused allegedly promised to find a job for the victim using his contacts in various airlines.
On 20 April, Handa met her for the first time in a hotel in Nehru Place.
She said in her complaint, ‘Handa clicked my nude photographs and blackmailed me.’ A few months later, the accused allegedly promised to marry her. He told her that he was going to divorce his wife soon.
Surender Pal, deputy commissioner of police (west) Gurgaon said, ‘We registered a complaint on Monday night and in the morning we transferred the case to south east Delhi police.’ P Karunakaran, DCP south east Delhi, said, ‘So far we have not received any intimation in this regard. The moment we receive the complaint we will investigate it and will nab the culprit.’
