The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said if they come to power in Delhi this time, they will keep women’s safety on top of their priority list. The party said if given a chance, it will bring every nook and corner of the city under surveillance and install CCTV cameras all over the national Capital. A vast network will be set up and AAP said it will work very hard to keep updated records and monitor successful functioning of these CCTV cameras.
The party will also render special attention on proper street light facilities, vigilance at isolated and dark areas keeping safety and security of the pedestrians in mind. The party also said that it will work to provide and improve hostel facilities for working women, also focussing on women empowerment.
‘We will work to stop the harassment of women at workplaces as well,’ said a party source. ‘We want to give a sense of security to the women in Delhi. The CCTV network will help us keep a close eye on criminals who often run away after committing crimes,’ said the source.
Construction of two lakh toilets in the national Capital is also top on their agenda for the forthcoming elections. Around 30 per cent of the Delhi population do not have this basic facility as of now. The party said it will construct female friendly toilets all over Delhi.
AAP said it will connect all localities with proper transport networks. ‘The e-rickshaws and autos and manual rickshaws as well will have better options providing the last mile connectivity for commuters after they get off from bus or metro,’ said the sources.
The party sources further said that they have also identified 12 other important issues for the next Delhi-Dialogue scheduled on 26 November.
