Advani chapter closed, says Shah

BJP general secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Amit Shah on Thursday said that the LK Advani episode was a closed chapter as the party stands united on the elevation of Narendra Modi.

‘The Advani issue is a closed one and there is no discussion on it within or outside the party,’ he told mediapersons after winding up his two-day maiden visit to the state.

Shah said that other political parties have no authority to question BJP, as to whom the party selects. But the activities of the opposition parties was enough proof to show that BJP has already gained a lead against them by just announcing the name of Narendra Modi as the campaign head of the party. Asserting that Ram temple will always be the one of the prime agendas of the party, he said that road to Delhi for the BJP will go through Lucknow.

‘BJP has a good prospect in UP and this time in order to remove the corrupt UPA government, people will support the BJP and the NDA,’ he said. Ruling out any prospect of the possibility of third front in the country, the former Gujarat home minister and a close aide of Narendra Modi, said the country is heading towards bi-polar political system where there is no place for a third front.

Shah disclosed that the party was yet to discuss on the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. ‘There is enough time to discuss on the issue,’ he said and refused to make any comment whether Narendra Modi would contest the Lok Sabha elections from UP.  Criticising the Akhilesh Yadav government, Shah said that the state government itself was trying to throw the state into communal disturbances.
