The fight for accommodation of Arvind Kejriwal in Lutyens’ Delhi is set to get murkier as NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) member and AAP MLA from Delhi Cant Surender Singh has shot off a letter to NDMC chairperson Jalaj Srivastava demanding clarification on overstaying of his predecessor- Karan Singh Tanwar in government bungalow.
The matter was also raised by Singh and Kejriwal in the meeting of the council on Thursday. Tanwar was allocated a bungalow- 1 Moti Bagh, in capacity of being a member of the council as he was MLA from Delhi Cant area. ‘While his membership has ended after losing Delhi’s assembly election last year, he is still staying in the bungalow,’ said Surender Singh.
‘It is beyond our understanding as to why Union home ministry rejected the resolution passed by the council to arrange accommodation for me and Kejriwal,’ argued Singh. ‘Has NDMC served any notice to Tanwar to vacate his house,’ asked Singh in his letter to NDMC. He also alleged that the NDMC chairperson is working under pressure from BJP leaders and depriving them from their rightful demands.
