Arvind Kejriwal government’s decision to allow DMRC to work in NCR towns gave life to our project to connect Ghaziabad with Delhi,’ said Yadav after signing the MoU for 9.1 km long metro route with DMRC managing director Mangu Singh in the head office of GDA.
‘The files moved at very slow pace during the previous government in Delhi,’he added. He further added that Kejriwal understood and given his nod to the project within two to three days. DMRC chief Mangu Singh also echoed his view and said: ‘Yadav was very prompt to tap the change in the vision of new government in Delhi and got the project sanctioned in very short span of time.’ Singh further added: ‘Some people were of the view that DMRC’s expansion in NCR towns would adversely affect its Delhi Metro’s Phase-III in Delhi so we were not being allowed to work in NCR towns.’ The assured that he would prove the doomsayers wrong and complete the project in record time. On the occasion of signing the MoU GDA vice chairman also handed over Rs 25 crore cheque to DMRC chief Mangu Singh. ‘We will start initial works immediately but actual construction of pillars and stations would start after three months,’ said Singh. It’s pertinent to mention that former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s government was against DMRC’s extension in NCR towns.
Meanwhile, GDA has started the strategy to lay a metro-network in the satellite town. The authority is also trying to find out ways to shoulder the cost of these projects on private developers through a suitable Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
As the private developers and real estate sector would be benefitted most in these infrastructure projects they would be involved to shoulder the cost of the project,’ said Santosh Kumar Yadav, vice chairman of GDA.
