30 flights depart late daily: DIAL

In a major embarrassment to the modern IGI Airport, it has come to light that as many as 30 flights are delayed daily due to various reasons.
The reactionary delay usually happen when a passenger or baggage is transferred from one
fight to the other.
According to the data of data of DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited), a total of 4121 flights left late from the airport during 1 July to 30 September 2014.
The data shows that the highest number of flights were delayed in September (1,097) followed by July (896) and August (826).
According to recent figures released by DIAL, national carrier Air India tops the list with highest number (1,250 flights) of late departures. Singapore Airlines stands at second position with
1,100 delayed flights.
Earlier In May this year, a total of 9,416 flights departed from IGI Airport, among which 1,302 flights were delayed. Similarly, in June 2014 a total of 9,161 flights took off from IGI Airport. While 7,566 of these flights departed on time, 1,595 flights got delayed. Sources in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have informed that the authorities are planning to take steps in this direction.
