117 metro feeder buses get DTC nod, to ply on 16 routes

The commuters will get a relief soon as Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) ) on Wednesday authorised Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to operate 117 feeder buses. The transport department has issued permits for as many as 16 routes.
‘The bulk of passengers are transported in NCT of Delhi through public transport by DTC buses, cluster buses and Delhi Metro Rail. For the last mile connectivity, various modes are utilized by commuters such as personal transport, auto rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, gramin sewa buses and the like. For last mile connectivity for Delhi Metro Rail, DMRC operates metro feeder mini and midi buses. The transport department has authorised DMRC to operate 117 feeder buses,’ said Kuldeep Singh Gangar, Special Commissioner, Transport Department.
The 16 routes are: Shashtri park- DDA Sports Complex Vasundhara Enclave, Kirti Nagar-Puspanjali / West Enclave, Rajendra Palace-Anand Parvat, Kirti Nagar-Sagar Pur, Dwarka Sector 9- Dwarka sector 11 Metro Station, Dwarka Sector 10-Najafgarh (Tr), Shastri Nagar-Naraina Vihar Gurudwara, Yamuna Bank-Mayur Vihar phase 3, Mayur Vihar phase 1- Mayur Vihar phase 3, Chhattarpur – Rajokari, NSHP-Azad Pur Metro station, NSHP-Bhagwan Mahaveer Hospital, Pitam Pura-Pitam Pura Metro station, Rohini West-Rama Vihar, Rohini West-Lekhi Ram Park, Pitam Pura- Pushpanjali/West Enclave.
‘Now, 400 more feeder buses are proposed to be added to the existing fleet. The transport department has sanctioned an amount of Rs 6.04 crores for the purpose. Further, the transport department has issued 24 new permits to the DMRC midi buses. These midi buses have a seating capacity of 27 passengers each.
The permits for these additional 24 mini buses have been issued by the transport department for four routes,’ he added. The following four routes are: Vishwavidhalya Metro Station-Burari, Vishwavidhalya Metro Station-Gokalpuri, Hauz Khas Metro station- Chhattarpur metro station, Azad pur metro staton -Kanahiya Nagar Metro Station.
Meanwhile, DMRC said it has received the permits for the feeder buses. ‘These buses will be inducted in service within 4-5 days. At present DMRC is making arrangements to display passenger related information in these buses and routed related information though web and mobiles,’ said DMRC spokesperson.
