“Why is Kiranji running away from the debate? She is busy but surely she can take out 2 hrs from her busy schedule. People want to know her stand on issues,” Kejriwal tweeted.
“Kiranji is saying she would debate after the elections in the Assembly but she refuses to debate before the polls take place saying that she believes in ‘delivery’. Does it mean ‘delivery’ before elections and debate after elections? We want to debate before and deliver later,” said Kejriwal.
After Kejriwal tweeted an invitation to Bedi for a debate on Tuesday, senior Congress leader Ajay Maken offered to debate both of them. However, none of them responded to him. Meanwhile, reacting to Maken’s offer on debating with Kejriwal, senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said: “We welcome his offer, but debate will no have no substance if Bedi does not participate in it.”
AAP has been launching scathing attacks on Kiran Bedi ever since she has been nominated by the BJP as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi. AAP alleged that she is unaware about the basic issues that are troubling Delhiites for all these months, including electricity and water — which form AAP’s major issue for contesting the election this time.
Meanwhile, AAP on Wednesday released a white paper on the existing condition of the power sector in Delhi. The newbie party has been long focussing on the issue of discoms and electricity tariffs, CAG audit of private power distribution companies, rate at which electricity is purchased by such discoms and the like.
The AAP has made it clear that if it is voted to power, it will reduce the electricity tariffs in Delhi by 50 per cent till the CAG audit is complete and reality of the discoms is out.
The party asked its opponents to clear their stand on electricity tariffs, CAG audit of discoms and on what basis are the discoms demanding payment of arrears from the government.
