All the four Char Dham pilgrim centers Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamnotri recorded sub-zero temperature on Sunday where residents witnessed shivering cold. Yamnotri recorded minimum temperature (-8 degree Celsius) where many interior roads are still blocked.
While Gangotri recorded -1 degree Celsius, Badrinath and Kedarnath recorded -5 degrees and -3 degree Celsius respectively on Sunday, as per state meteorological center report. Auli and Tungnath also received 1 to 2 feet snow, where heavy rush of tourists was reported on this weekend.
As news of the seasonal first snowfall in Mussorrie reached across the country, the weekend tourists from neighboring states of Delhi, UP and Haryana flocked to snow-covered hills, especially in Lal Tibha and Dhanolti. There was a scene of long queue of cars at Dehradun-Mussorrie road right from the late morning hours (rise in tourists) rejuvenated the mood of local business community. The tourist’s season was almost dull after winter carnival ended in Queen of Hills.
Many high altitudes region of Tehri Garhwal like Surkanda, Khadhukhal and Kanha Tal are still covered with Saturday’s snow. The Met department is still expecting another spell of snow before the end of this month.
