Two including one cop injured in cross-firing

A group of chain snatchers and police team exchanged fire at South City part II area of Gurgaon on Thursday. A police official and one of the criminals were injured during the cross-fire.

The incident took place around 12.30 am, when a team of police officials, from crime unit 9, was patrolling the roads. They came across three youth on a bike aged between 18 and 20. The police stopped the bikers and asked them for their license and other identity proof.

Two of them pulled out their guns and started firing at the police team and the cops also retaliated. Police said that more than a dozen shots were fired by both the parties. 

However, the police managed to nab two of the miscreants while one managed to flee the spot. 

During the relentless firing, a cop named Taiyam Husaain and one of the criminals received bullet injuries. They were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital where they were administered first aid. 

During primary investigation, it was revealed that the youth were involved in several cases of loot and chain snatching in the city.

“Unit 9 was on regular patrolling when they saw three youth on a bike. The police stopped them and asked for their identification proofs when two of them started firing at the team relentlessly. 

“The police also retaliated and in the exchange one of the cops and criminals received bullet injuries. We have rushed them to the hospital where they are being administered,” said ACP (DLF) Ramesh Pal.
