STAR Jalsha, Jalsha movies lead in Bengali entertainment space

STAR India’s Bengali television channels, Star Jalsha and Jalsha movies, have emerged as the biggest franchise in the Bengali entertainment space with industry leading rating of 692 GRPs in week 52 .

The combined 692 GRPs for the two Jalsha channels is higher than the cumulative ratings of all other Bengali television channels put together, firmly establishing STAR network as an undisputed leader and the most popular destination for regional entertainment in West Bengal. In week 52 other Bengali channels – Zee Bangla, Zee Bangla Cinema, ETV Bangla and Ruposhi Bangla — had combined ratings of 673 GRPs. JALSHA Movies, the newest and biggest home to Bengali movie-fest, continued its dream-run on TRP charts as well with a record 191 GRPs in week 52.

The recent ratings for JALSHA Movies are the highest-ever for any Bengali Movie channel, a testament to its rising popularity among regional film lovers. Kevin Vaz, President and General Manager – Star Jalsha and President – Ad Sales at Star India Pvt. Ltd. said: 'We are delighted to be the biggest Bengali entertainment franchise. JALSHA Movies launch was also the biggest ever in West Bengal since 2008, clocking a record 154 GRPs on its opening day.

JALSHA Movies was launched on 16 December with the World Television Premier of mega hit, Superstar Jeet starrer, AWARA which recorded a whopping 5.3 TVR. The channel’s 154 GRP rating in its opening week was higher than the combined ratings of ETV Bangla (80 GRP) and Zee Bangla Cinema (65 GRP). With a vast collection of big Bengali blockbusters, JALSHA Movies is proving to be a haven for Bengali movie lovers. JALSHA Movies boasts of the biggest library of most loved Bangla super-hit films and compliments STAR Jalsha’s ever increasing popularity in West Bengal.
