Railways too charts out evacuation plans

After instructions from the newly-appointed railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge, railways have announced various steps in helping evacuation of stranded people in the hilly state of Uttarakhand where flash flood have ravaged the state completely. Thousands are feared to be dead and many are still stranded with various government agencies working round the clock to rescue them.
Officials said that Kharge, after meeting senior officials of his ministry, instructed them to do everything possible to rescue stranded people. He, on Thursday, reviewed the plans and gave various instructions to the Railway Board.

The Railways has deputed its senior officials at places like Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and New Delhi to liason and co-ordination with the state civil authorities to ensure management and dispersal of passengers by train services, running of special trains, etc.
