PWD road in Rohini lies in despair; authorities pass blame, locals suffer
The road was constructed by PWD and the sewer line was laid by the DDA. But due to the faulty planning of the line, the water gets reversed, which has also caused huge damage to the road. While the DDA asked Delhi Jal board (DJB) to take the responsibility to maintain the line, the water body is asking for deficiency charge. The DDA is also not willing to pay the charges.
‘While these agencies are passing the ball to each other’s court, the road constructed by the PWD gets damaged,’ said local councillor Vijay Prakash Pandey. The situation gets worse during the rainy season, he added.
The locals have alleged that the road has been in such condition for months now. ‘This road is very prone to accident. But it has been completely ignored by the authorities despite regular complaints’, said Rohan Sharma, a local resident.
He further added, ‘The road near Badli village adjacent to school is in critical state with stinking smell, water logging etc, which is making life miserable to not only commuters but school children as well. The water keeps flowing on the road, making to prone to some very deadly diseases.’
Another local resident said he has lost all hopes of the road being restored by the authorities. ‘Now I have stopped thinking about it. It doesn’t look like a problem anymore. We have become habitual to it. We know that authorities are not going to change. So we have started getting immune such problems’, he said.
