One man died, and two others were injured after a fight took place between two notorious rival gangs in northwest Delhi’s Rani Bagh area.
On Sunday afternoon, the members of the two rival gangs opened fire at each other, killing one and injuring two persons, police informed. However, no civilians were injured in the alleged shoot out.
When a police team reached the spot, few of the gang members managed to escape from the spot while three were trapped by the police. One of them, later identified as Anil (25) was found unconscious in a pool of blood who was declared dead when rushed to the hospital.
The other two, who received gun shot injuries were identified as Monu and Ashok who underwent medical treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital. Later in the evening they were discharged and were arrested by police.
Sources in police confirmed that both Monu and Ashok belong to Neetu Dhabodia and Neeraj Bawana gangs, respectively. On the day of the incident, the gangs happened to confront each other in Rani Bagh market at Road number 4.
During the investigation, it was learnt that gang war took place between nine persons; five members of Neetu Dhabodia gang and four belonging to Neeraj Bawana gang. Around 15 shots were fired and the empty bullets shells have been recovered from the crime scene, the official said quoting arrestee’s revelation.
Country-made pistols from the duo accused have been recovered. Recently, Neetu, the gang leader was gunned down by police in an encounter.
