Delhi Police Crime Branch has claimed to solve the murder case of a 25-year-old woman, who was found dead at Nehru Place. They also claimed to have arrested two drivers for allegedly murdering the woman after raping her.

‘The two persons, identifed as Sikender Singh (28) and Pradeep Singh (30), have been arrested for allegedly strangling the woman to death, when she resisted their physically aggressive behaviour with her,’ Ashok Chand, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), said. The woman’s body was discovered in Nehru Place on 24 April.

After establishing the identity of the woman, police found she was dropped near Defence Colony by her husband, an auto driver, on 23 April. She then called her husband later and told him she was going in a taxi with two men.

Searches were conducted and it was found that the vehicle was attached to a travel agency in Nehru Place and was owned by Pradeep. A team was sent to Ropar, from where Pradeep hailed. It was found, however, that Pradeep had left for Delhi. On Sunday, he was tracked to Moti Bagh and was arrested.

During interrogation, Chand claimed, the duo told police that they met the woman and gave her lift with her consent. ‘When they became physically aggressive, she resisted and they strangulated her. After strangulating her, they went to Nehru Place and dumped the body,’ Chand claimed.

Sikender has been working as a taxi driver in Delhi for the last 6-7 years, while Pradeep came to the city  in 2002 and started working as a taxi driver at Nehru Place.
