Kolkata: In a bid to give better services to pandal-hoppers during Durga Puja this year, Kolkata Metro Railway opened a new surface gate at Noapara Metro Station on Wednesday.
The decision comes after the Talla Bridge was closed for heavy vehicles (buses). This additional gate will be of great benefit to the metro commuters.
More people are now availing metro services to Noapara for hassle-free communication. "A new surface gate at Noapara Metro station was opened on Wednesday for the convenience of the commuters. This gate is located on the North–West side of the station and it will enhance passenger amenities of this terminal Metro station," read a press release issued by Kolkata Metro Railway on Thursday.
The press release further pointed out that it has been a long-standing demand for Metro commuters to open a gate on North–West side of Noapara station.
Metro commuters of Pramodnagar, Belgharia, Dunlop, Bally and Rajchandrapur area will be immensely benefited as they can avail auto services in front of this gate for Rajchandrapur.
Seven pairs of EMU locals (Main line – six pairs and Chord line – one pair) were cancelled while many EMU and Mail/Express services are running late for 15 to 20 minutes each on an average due to derailment of Masagram – Howrah EMU local on Wednesday.
