Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended warm wishes to all the mothers and sisters of the world on International Women's Day.

"Warm wishes to all the mothers and sisters of this world. Happy #InternationalWomensDay" the Chief Minister tweeted on Wednesday.

In a pictorial message on twitter, she also said: "Women are pride of our society."

This year's International Women's Day came with a strong message across the world, #BeBoldForChange.

In a prime example of women power, Mamata Banerjee brought change in Bengal in 2011 with the landslide victory over Left Front and became the first woman Chief Minister of Bengal. However, on Wednesday, Trinamool Congress organised rallies across the Bengal on International Women's Day. Women from different sectors of the society participated in those rallies.

On the other hand, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launched the Indian Women Network (IWN) in Bengal where the target groups will be those who are either in the industry or students or faculty in higher educational institutions. Entrepreneurs and independent professionals also form part of the CII-IWN's target audience.

The core areas of focus are policy advocacy, learning and development and health and well being of women while fundamental objectives include awareness building, learning and implementation.

"IWN will try and help freshers transition from being a student to a successful professional. With a focus on structuring a woman's career, IWN will conduct sessions to enhance communication and soft skills, a CII official release said.

IWN will help to build personal brand and enable them to learn how they can make the most rewarding investment in a concept called 'My Money for My Future'. There will also be sessions periodically organised on a variety of management topics.

On this occasion in Metro Railway Kolkata, a programme was organised at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital of Metro Railways where the nursing staff and other lady employees of the hospital jointly presented a skit on the theme of this year's Women's Day – #BeBoldForChange.
