Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday launched an all-round attack on his detractors but claimed that they would not be able to harm him as he has done nothing wrong. The Chief Minister also claimed that besides making Delhi corruption free, his target is to make Delhi among the top five cities of the world in ‘ease of doing business’.
“There are three types of people, who intrigue conspiracy against my government. They are - political parties fighting for their survival due to historic mandate to Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi and fear complete rout if we expand across other states; corrupts and third are the ‘blackmailers’,” said the Chief Minister.
He claimed that the personal assistant of the editor of a television channel, which airs news against him, had met him on behalf of his editor and demanded the distribution rights of electricity in Delhi. “He said that his company was willing to venture into the power distribution sector and wanted respite from erring discoms,” said the Chief Minister. “If this is the basis of your news in going against me, then air whatever you want. No one can blackmail me,”warned Kejriwal.
“Criticising Kejriwal has become the easiest way to attain publicity. Start abusing me and television cameras will surround you,” he mocked the media. But in the same vein, Kejriwal praised the good works of some media persons. In his half an hour speech Kejriwal used every opportunity to warn his rivals, indifferent to their criticism and attacked political rivals too.
“In the next five years I will make Delhi among the top five cities of the world in terms of ‘ease of doing business’,” said Kejriwal. He further emphasised that there are several noble businessmen, who want to do business with honesty but the system did not allow them. “The rockets of America will not fly if our scientists are not there. Our people are on the top posts in several multi-national companies but they fail in India. It means there is some systematic problem,” he added. He further promised to simplify the rules and make them business friendly.
The Aam Aadmi Party chief said that he had fulfilled the third most important electoral promise within 50 days of his government. “If Delhi can provide electricity at half rates then why can’t the other states? People of other states should ask their chief ministers to reduce the rates of power by half,” he added.
