The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Techno International New Town organised a two-day workshop. Titled, ‘Quantum Fusion: Integration of AI and Quantum Computing with Supercomputing’, this workshop was funded under the AICTE-VAANI project, which provides financial assistance to AICTE-approved institutions for organising events such as conferences, seminars and workshops in emerging technological fields.
The AICTE-VAANI project is an innovative initiative by AICTE aimed at promoting high-quality technical education in regional languages. Establishing communication in local languages is crucial for the overall expansion of technical education and developmental initiatives in India.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Sanku Bose, Group CEO of Techno India Group. Other notable guests included Dr Ayan Chakraborty, Principal, Techno International New Town, and Dr Swagata Pal, Academic Coordinator and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Several renowned professors from prestigious universities and industries in West Bengal participated as speakers in the event.
Dr Arindam Biswas from IIEST Shibpur, Dr Umapada Pal from ISI Kolkata, Dr Sankhayan Choudhury and Dr Soumya Sen from the University of Calcutta spoke about AI and its practical applications in various fields. Dr Amlan Chakraborty from the University of Calcutta and Dr Debashis De, a professor at MAKAUT, discussed the practical applications of quantum computing. Additionally, Dr Kaushik Roy from Barasat State University and Dr Samarjit Kar from NIT Durgapur spoke about the use of AI in Bengali texts. Dr Subrata Sarkar from C-DAC Kolkata and Dr Tapas Samanta from VECC Kolkata presented insightful examples of the application of supercomputing in the industry. The event was coordinated by Dr Nilanjana Dutta Roy, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science, and Dr Nilanjan De, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science.
