A Hoshiarpur-born strongman with several records to his name  – including pulling a double-decker bus by his hair and an aeroplane by his ears – is set to travel to Germany to perform another feat.

Leicester-based Manjit Singh, 62, has amazed many with his strength and endurance skills by setting several Guinness World Records.

Singh, who recently pulled a car by a rope attached to his ears on television, will shortly repeat the performance in Germany.

Singh moved to Britain in 1977 after a short tenure as a policeman in Punjab. He says he is inspired by the performance of British athletes at the Olympics.

Singh has been invited to appear on the Das Supertalent 2012 television show in Germany.

He told Leicester Mercury, a local daily: ‘They saw a video of me pulling a car with my ear and decided they wanted me for their show, too. It is quite an honour and a great opportunity for people in another part of the world to see my abilities. I have never been to Germany before so I am looking forward to doing a bit of sightseeing in Berlin.’

Singh says on his web site: ‘It is all mind over matter. If you look at me, I am not a big guy, but meditation helps me to control my thoughts and concentrate, it is a great help to the body. I wake up every single day at 6 am, no matter what time I went to bed the night before. I then sit on my own, quietly, and clear my mind of all thoughts and concentrate only on my goal.’

On pulling heavy vehicles and objects by his ears, Singh said: ‘I use rubber clips under a metal clips attached to my ear. This is then attached to a rope and I pull the car. It does hurt, but I can manage the pain. My ears will be a bit sore for a few days afterwards but it is worth it.’

He added: ‘I don’t bathe my ears in any special lotion or treat them with anything at all. I don’t know why I have these abilities. I guess it is something I was born with.’

Singh is married to Mahinder Kaur, and the couple have four children.
