In recent months, the Millennium City has seen a surge in vehicular stealing activities when two-wheelers, four-wheelers and some other heavy vehicles were suddenly reported stolen. Finally on Tuesday, the district police arrested two thieves and solved probably one of the biggest vehicle heist worth Rs 2.14 crore.
The thieves were nabbed on two consecutive days that is Tuesday and Wednesday. The cops recovered two buses, each costing a whopping Rs 1.07 crore. The two accused were identified as Sajal (22) and Bunty (24), who hailed from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and they stole the two buses from Ghaziabad merely four days ago. According to the information received from the police, the buses were manufactured in Italy and have been customized to give the facilities similar to an aircraft. The seats can be turned into a complete bed and each seat is equipped with television screens. These expensive and customised buses were used by a travel agency for the NRIs and foreign tourists.
One of the Crime Unit in Gurgaon received information on Tuesday that the buses will be taken to neighbouring districts of Mewat and Rajasthan for selling. The cops then set up checkposts in the city and arrested Bunty from Ambedkar Chowk on Tuesday. The second bus was recovered from Sohna Road and Sajal was arrested on Wednesday. The accused told police that they had made a deal to sell both the buses for a total of Rs 10 lakh. They have been booked under Sections 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 379 (theft).
