Gopal Goyal Kanda, the absconding former Haryana minister has been booked for abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation in the Geetika Sharma suicide case. The 23-year-old former air hostess was found hanging at her house on 5 August. In her suicide note, Geetika, an ex-employee at Kanda’s MDLR airlines, accused Kanda as being the reason for her death.
According to Mehta, Kanda preferred to be surrounded by gorgeous women. This was the reason, she said, why the Kanda-owned MDLR airlines and casino employed a number of beautiful girls. ‘It was Aruna Chadha’s (the co-accused in Geetika’s suicide) responsibility to supply and manage these women, who had to be a blend of beauty,’ said Mehta in an exclusive interview with Millennium Post.
‘I recruited Sharma in 2007. But with time, she fell in to Kanda’s trap and became close to him. Kanda had illicit relationships with many of his employees. One proof of his illicit relation is Ankita Singh, who also has a child with him. In 2010, due to the collapse of MDLR airlines, Geetika left the company and joined Emirates. This made Kanda possessive about her,’ Mehta said.
Mehta told Millennium Post that Aruna Chadha, used to make such contracts where the girls have to directly report Kanda after work. Same case, happened with Geetika. With the help of this contract, Kanda got the benefit of spending quality time with them.
According to Mehta, Kanda used to give expensive gifts to the women who surrounded him. Some received pets from him, some got perfumes or diamonds. Ankita received a property in Goa worth crores from Kanda.
While talking to Millennium Post, Nupur Mehta said that in 2009, Ankita got to know that Geetika had a relationship with Kanda. Mehta accompanied Ankita when she approached Geetika and confronted her. Ankita wanted to know whether Geetika had been on any foreign tours with Kanda. But according to Mehta, Geetika denied this and said she didn’t have a passport. Ankita wanted to check Geetika’s mobile and laptop to reassure herself, but Geetika did not permit this and said they contained personal and professional information that she couldn’t share with any one.
However, Mehta said that she and Ankita took Geetika’s bag without her permission. A search of the bag revealed that Geetika did have a passport and the visa dates of her foreign travels matched those of Kanda’s. The laptop was password-locked, but an examination of her mobile showed intimate messages exchanged between her and Kanda.
According to Mehta, Geetika had lodged a complaint against the two of them alleging that they had stolen her bag.
The two were called to the police station, but the matter was sorted out with Kanda’s help, who asked Geetika to withdraw her complaint.
A few days after this apparently, Geetika got to know of Kanda’s relationship with Ankita and asked her to break it off. ‘I am going to marry Kanda soon. I will separate him from his wife too. Take as much money as you want, but leave Kanda. He is mine,’ Mehta quoted Geetika as saying.
