The Ghaziabad Development Authority on Monday made a giant step towards e-governance by launching four citizen centric online services – online sanctioning of maps for residential plots, property files of all allottees, mobile app helpline and original maps of group housing societies approved by the authority.

“The home buyers can see and download the original sanctioned maps of the housing societies by GDA and can avoid trap by errant builders,” said Santosh Kumar Yadav, chairman and vice-chairman of the GDA. “It will also enhance the confidence of home buyers and strengthen the bond between home buyers and genuine builders,” he added.

He further said that all the modifications of the approved map would also be incorporated and updated accordingly at the earliest. The authority on its new web portal has also launched online sanctioning of maps for individual houses. “We are providing 7 to 9 designs on every size of residential plots. The applicant can pick the design of his choice and submit it online. He can deposit the fee either online or through a challan. Within two days of receiving the fee the applicant would get a soft copy of the approved map via e-mail, following which, the hard copy would be sent by post,” informed Yadav, launching the facility on Monday.

Earlier, the applicant had to get a map designed by an architect, apply to the GDA along with the required fee. The entire process used to take at least one month if pursued aggressively but now it would be done within two days without hiccups. The authority had also put the property files of 1.15 lakh properties online, out of the 1.30 lakh properties under its jurisdiction. “We will soon put all the records online with a facility for original prints,” added Yadav.

The authority also launched a mobile app to receive complaint and suggestions from citizens. “You can lodge complain along with pictures and videos through the mobile app, which would be forwarded to the concerned officer for redressal. If not resolved on time, it would send an SMS alert to higher authorities,” said Yadav. GDA has already launched a satellite monitored system to identify illegal constructions in its area, which has proved to be quite an effective system to curb land sharks in Ghaziabad. In a short span of time, the GDA, according to officers, has identified and demolished dozens of illegal colonies and unauthorised constructions in the satellite town.
