Gautam Buddha and his teachings have always played a pivotal role in India and South Asian parts of the world. An ongoing exhibition in New Delhi has marked the importance of His lessons.
Hosted by Atul Todi, an ongoing exhibition 'Finding Buddha' is being held at the Convention Foyer at Indian Habitat Centre till March 24 in New Delhi, which has brought the sage's lessons into prominence.
"Buddha means the awakened one...someone who has woken up from the sleep of ignorance. This awakening happens with the recognition of one's source of happiness," said Todi.
He further added that, "For generations, Buddha's paintings have shown him as a symbol of meditation. They do not imbibe the true message of Buddha or connect with today's generation".
"It has no fixed time, geographical boundaries or defined monetary value. Buddha can be a moment in the rain or a sip of a freshly brewed coffee. He is in anything that awakens our mind and allows us to be in-tune with our inner self," Todi said.
Putting an emphasis on the importance of peace and stillness, Buddha has been portrayed in different images in varied forms. Each picture depicts Him either as an astronaut, or as playing guitar. He has also been shown on a scooter in of the pictures. Although the images are disparate, but every picture shows him in meditative posture.
The exhibition focusses Siddhartha Gautam as a meditator and that he preached meditation to attain 'Nirvana' (suffering) to banish all desires from their lives.
