After taking on several layered and intense roles, Wamiqa Gabbi is gearing up for the release of Atlee’s directorial ‘Baby John’. Alongside an intriguing storyline, the film boasts adrenaline-pumping action sequences. For Wamiqa, who plays a significant role in the movie, working on the project has been nothing short of transformative. Not only did it allow her to collaborate with Atlee, the director behind the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, but it also marked her foray into action-packed performances.
Sharing her first impression of the project, she revealed, “When I first heard the script of Baby John, my reaction was, ‘Full mass!’ I knew it was Atlee sir and this is exactly what he’s celebrated for - fun, fast-paced and highly entertaining films. The story had me hooked right from the start - you just can’t take your eyes off the screen.”
While the narrative instantly captured her interest, stepping into the world of action brought its own set of challenges. She admitted, “This was my first time doing action and I honestly didn’t know what to expect.”
To prepare for the demanding sequences, Wamiqa underwent a couple of days of rehearsals. However, the sheer scale of the stunts initially left her uncertain about how everything would unfold. Reflecting on the process, the actress, who has previously shone in regional cinema as well as in projects like ‘83’, ‘Khufiya’ and web series such as ‘Mai: A Mother’s Rage’, ‘Modern Love Mumbai’ and ‘Jubilee’, said, “The team had allotted seven-to-eight hours for one scene because it involved intense action. But surprisingly, we wrapped it up in just two hours! It felt magical, like when the stars align and everything just falls into place.”
