England face French dilemma

Update: 2012-06-11 18:52 GMT
England will be facing mighty France in the group D encounter on Monday to start their Euro campaign. Both teams registered victories in the friendlies and France will be raring to sneak a good result. England who lost some big players through injuries look good but don't have an experienced back up. With Wayne Rooney's suspension the front line likely to feature Andy Carrol or Danny Welbeck need to come up with answers against an experienced French side.

Roy Hodgson's team will definitely give everything but France start as favourites. With Karim Benzema, Frank Ribery and Samir Nasri France will look to provide enough hardships to test England.

This is the biggest match of the group as both teams know the clashes against the other two teams Sweden and Ukraine will be tricky if not very tough. Low key England will be up against one of the title favourites as this tie will mark Hodgson's influence so far.

The last time the two sides met at the European Championships in 2004, France defeated England 2-1 in the group stages. The more experienced defending set up of England is capable in seeing off French danger but they will have to be at their best to keep England in the hunt.

The match will serve a lot to do with concerntration and whichever team handles it better will have an edge over the other. Ashley Young will look to shoulder more responsibilities as England's no.10 and Arsenal recruit Oxlade Chamberlain can be the surprise package if figured in Hodgson's plans.

England are in a position to surprise many and skippwr Steven Gerrard will look to lead his side from the front with all the existing resources. That's the only option England has to savour anything from the tie as France will look to put the Three Lions team in a dilemma on the given day.
