In order to encourage higher participation of the youth in the upcoming assembly elections, Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) has started registration camps for potential voters at Vishwavidhyalya Metro Station and Arts faculty, North Campus, in collaboration with the Delhi Election Commission.
This has been done to get students from the varsity enrolled on the voters list.
Aman Awana, DUSU president said, ‘The youths in this country are the biggest force in our democracy but if they do not get themselves registered at the earliest, how will they cast their vote?’
He appealed to all DU students above the age of 18 to get their voter identity cards made as soon as possible so that they can exercise their franchise. DUSU joint secretary Raju Rawat said, ‘We are running this campaign to get as many students as possible registered as voters.’
