New Delhi: A six-year-old girl was raped by a man in Dwarka district.
Police claimed that they have arrested the 24-year-old accused in the case.
According to a senior police officer, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon. The victim was found in the bushes adjacent to a road and rushed to the hospital, the police said.
"A commuter noticed the girl and made PCR call and stated that a girl came out from bushes and something wrong has happened with her. A police team reached the spot," an officer said.
The girl was later shifted to another hospital, where she is receiving treatment. Police said that during investigation, girl's parents were traced.
Police scanned the footages of CCTVs installed near the spot. One of the cameras captured the accused.
"In the footage, accused was seen holding the hand of the girl and walking out of the area," police said.
An officer further added that the door to door search was conducted in search of the accused. "We questioned many persons regarding the accused," police said.
The 24-year-old man was nabbed from the Dwarka district while he was roaming in the area. The investigating agency said that the accused is the native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
"He is vagabond and roams around in the area. He has no home" police said. The interrogation of the accused revealed that on the day of the incident, he saw the girl outside her home. "On some pretext, he took her with him and assaulted the minor girl," police said.
The Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted, "Met 6-year-old rape survivor in Hospital. Shell shocked! Each inch of her body has marks of brutality. Private parts comp destroyed! Last year I kept hunger strike for 10 days 4 death to child rapists but yet 2 be implemented even in Del. The system is responsible for this rape!
According to DCW as per the police records, the incident happened on Tuesday, June 2, when the minor survivor had gone to a nearby temple to pay offerings.
The man allegedly lured the victim by buying her some snacks and took her to a deserted place where he raped her.
Few hours later, an unknown person saw the minor lying in a pool of blood and immediately informed 181 helpline.
DCW team reached the spot and assisted the survivor in getting her admitted to hospital from where she was transferred to another hospital.
The victim hails from Bihar and was studying in class II in a Delhi school. Her father is a labourer while her mother works as a domestic help, said DCW.
