Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has sent a final written reminder to the Delhi government to deposit money at the rate of Rs 7 crore per flat in the Commonwealth Games Village or the authority will auction all the 60 flats allotted to Delhi government. The authority is coming up with a residential scheme to auction all the remaining 152 hi-end flats on Monday including those reserved for the Delhi government.
“Delhi government, during the regime of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, had requested 60 hi-end flats to be used as staff quarters but never deposited the money. We have written to the Delhi government to deposit the money at the rate of <g data-gr-id="72">minimum</g> reserve price. If they do not do so, the flats will be auctioned,” said Balvinder Kumar, Vice-Chairperson of DDA.
The scheme scheduled to be launched on Monday includes 152 type-III flats which has a plinth area of 3,000 <g data-gr-id="64">sq</g> feet. “The minimum rate of these flats is Rs 3,15,320 per <g data-gr-id="65">sq</g> meter,” informed Kumar. These posh flats are generally purchased mostly by government agencies, public sector units (PSUs), private companies to be used as staff quarter for senior officers or guest houses. In the last auction in 2012, the highest bid received was Rs 7.32 crore at the rate of Rs 24,137 per square foot. The minimum reserve price was fixed at Rs 5.22 crore (Rs 17,205 per square foot). This was an increase of 40.23 per cent.
Recently the Union Development Ministry has acquired 362 flats in CWG for its housing pool to be
used in the categories of Type-V(B) and above particularly for the heads of tribunals, commissions and the same rank personnel.
Meanwhile, the authority will discuss its fate of a tower in CWG village having 62 flats in the next board meeting. “It became controversial due to issue related to Floor Area Ratio (FAR). We will present the issue in the next board meeting to take a final decision,” added Kumar.
There have been demands to demolish the tower due to FAR issue on which the board meeting in the chairmanship of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung would take a final decision.
