'Is Taruni Sachdev the only person who died in the air crash? Or her celeb status makes her death more tragic than other 16 lives lost?' asked @Aagan86 on Twitter once Taruni Sachdev started trending on Tuesday.
A death is tragic under any circumstance but does get harder when faceless causality from an accident site gains an identity. The endearing face of a child who had very often graced the screen makes the loss a more grave than what it has already amounted to. Of the 13 Indians who perished in the plane crash in Nepal, the child artiste Taruni Sachdev was a part of the ill-fated group of 21 in the private jet that crashed while landing on a mountain airstrip.
While the families of the deceased mourn their own – the country held the candle for Taruni. A faceless dead is forgettable. A celeb's death can trend.
Taruni's co-star from Paa Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: 'Just reading that Taruni Sachdev, the girl child artist in Paa, has perished in Nepal plane crash .. please God may this not be true.'
Bachchan junior also expressed shock at the untimely loss and he tweeted: 'SHOCKED and very saddened to hear about the Nepal plane crash. Lost 1 of my cutest co-stars. Little Taruni Sachdev from PAA. Speechless...'
Taruni was a familiar face in TV, movies and innumerable adverts. The 14 -year-old had starred in over 50 commercials and had been a part of Bollywood and southern productions. Taruni played the role of Auro's (Amitabh Bachchan's character in Paa) classmate. She was also a part of two Malayam films, Vellinakshatram (2004) and Sathyam (2004) with Prithviraj and Priyamani. She had appeared on Shah Rukh Khan's reality quiz show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?
Moments after Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, Taruni Sachdev started trending on Twitter. Tweets started pouring in – shock for her untimely death, reflections about the lack of surity of life itself and how she would be missed.
'A lil girl dies in a plane crash. She was just 14, it is not an age to die, RIP Taruni Sachdev.' - tweeted @ItsShubham
'Paa famed kid Taruni Sachdev no more: Sometimes life plays shocking games on the innocent...' said @bollybasanti
'RIP Taruni Sachdev, the Best friend of Auro from Paa. May your soul rest in peace.' - said @_prithwish_
