On Wednesday, a Facebook profile picture caused scuffle between two class 10 students, which had resulted in one student hurting the other with a paper cutter.

The scuffle broke out between the two students of Bal Bharti School while they were heading out to the morning assembly prayer. According to the students, both Nishi and Ranjeet (name changed) had started fighting at the school's stairs. Ranjeet took out a sharp edged paper cutter from his bag and slashed Nishi's hand with it.

Ranjeet's repeated slashing caused severe injuries to Nishi's hand. Ranjeet had the cut of veins in the wrist. Other students had informed the school's teachers and the administration about the incident. The boy was then rushed to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Rajinder Nagar.

Police received the call at around 8 am from the hospital. Meanwhile, families of both the students rushed to the hospital after the incident. But when they heard about the cause of the scuffle, they denied to register a police complaint.

Apparently, the fight started because someone had posted a picture of the victim with a girl on Facebook. Some of his friends, including the Ranjeet, used to bully Nishi about that picture. This had led to a fight between the boys. According to friends, a few days ago, they had a heated argument outside the school premises as well. On Sunday, Ranjeet had sent an SMS threatening the victim.

Victim's family refused to complain saying that it was a trivial matter that could be sorted out among themselves. According to Ranjeet's mother, Ranjeet had, after much persuasion, claimed that Nishi had commented on his sister's picture posted on Facebook.

Despite repeated attempts, it was not possible to get in touch with the school's principal, B L Sehgal.
