Kolkata: The structural work of the Airport Metro Station was completed. The beautification work of the station is ongoing. Metro authorities are aiming to commission this new station in the next year.

This under-construction Metro Station at NSCBI Airport will be the terminal station of Kavi Subhash-Airport via Rajarhat Metro Corridor. Since this will be the interchanging point of two Metro Corridors, the Metro authorities are expecting a huge footfall.

Keeping the rush in mind, all necessary arrangements have been made, according to the authorities. The station complex has been built over an area of 22,238 square metres. This will have five underground platforms, two platforms each for the two corridors and one for emergency use.

According to the authorities, the station will be divided into three levels–ground level, concourse level and platform level.

In order to ensure smooth movement, there will be three levels, seven entry/exit points, two subways, 12 lifts and 22 escalators. Out of the two subways, one will connect the station to NSCBI Airport and the other will facilitate passenger movement to and from Jessore Road. Landscaping work of around 16,500 square metre area has been completed. Furthermore, the abandoned piers of the Circular Railway have been cut and converted into small gardens on the pavements. Metro authorities are also repairing the damaged roads and constructing pavements after the structural work was over.
