As supporters rush to congratulate Vardhan, traffic woes mount

They are jubilant with the anointment of their MLA as the chief ministerial candidate of BJP for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, but the apathy, negligence and inaction by Delhi police have made their life miserable.

As all the roads of Delhi for BJP supporters have turned towards the residence of Harshvardhan to congratulate him, the entire area is facing acute traffic chaos. The problem has acquired serious proportions because of the absence of traffic police officers.

‘The traffic chaos starts early in the morning and continues till late in the night, but not even a single constable of Delhi traffic police is visible in this area,’ said Sonia Dheer, a resident of Krishna Nagar.

This reporter visited the area on Friday at around 10 am and found the entire road in front of Harshvardhan’s home chocked with supporters and their vehicles. Furthermore, reaching there is a herculean task due to heavy traffic in all the arterial roads.

As the residence of the chief ministerial candidate is not a big one — the two small rooms and a small lawn reserved for office on the ground floor can hardly accommodate around 150 persons. A huge crowd stands on the road parking its vehicles on the arterial roads.

‘I came here to extend the support of villagers of Najafgarh area. It took over one hour for my cavalcade to reach here from the main road. I am shocked to see that no traffic policeman is here,’ said Rajesh Gehlot, a strong Jat leader and chairman of standing committee in South Delhi Municipal Corporation.

The mayors of the three corporations, MLAs of the party and senior leaders, ticket seekers, councillors, workers and above all the fans of ‘Doctor Sahab’ make a  beeline from morning till late in the night to meet him.

Its also surprising that police has not provided any security to Vardhan- neither at home nor any personal security guard.

Shockingly, there is no security arrangement if any unwanted person tries to enter in the crowed to create nuisance or to handle any dispute between warring groups.
