The All India Students’ Association (AISA), an affiliate of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), in it’s manifesto on Thursday vowed the students to ‘give mandate against BJP’s 100 day’s show of betrayal, inactivity and politics of hatred’.
‘The government is overtly claiming that Hindutva has taken a back seat and ‘ache din’ is their prime agenda. But that is not the case. Inflation, no plans for central universities, love jihad and other issues have shown the government’s true nature. It is a completely hollow politics and prime minister Narendra Modi is silent on all such issues,’ said Sunny Kumar, Delhi state secretary of AISA.
‘How will the government ensure that poor students are able to get higher education? How will the government ensure better healthcare facilities for all? Even education and healthcare systems are getting privatised. How will a common man afford them? We raised this issue because we want students to be politically aware and they should know different political opinions and then decide instead of just following somebody blindly. We will do class -to-class campaigning to have a dialogue and also, during our campaigning, we have found that students are frustrated with ABVP and NSU politics,’ he added.
The student wing of BJP, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), disagrees. Parishad’s national secretary Rohit Chahal said, ‘AISA is run by Naxalites. Their approach is violent and they keep people in illusion. They are against army and don’t even believe in democracy. They have no right to say this. Students support us and they also have faith in Modi’s government.’ ‘We are focusing on students. We have raised this issue at national level and not in DUSU. We are here for students,’ said Amrish Ranjan Pandey of NSUI. DUSU elections will be held on 12 September.
