Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) and Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) – two misfits at a party get drawn to each other but an eventual one-night stand transforms into a deep friendship. Ayan wants to be a singer but Alizeh tells him that his voice lacks the soul that comes only from experiencing heartbreak; but not the kind caused by being dumped by a fortune-seeking bimbo girlfriend.
