Update: 2013-10-28 23:34 GMT
In an exclusive interaction with Siddheshwar Shukla, he talks about his vision, challenges and election strategy. Excerpts:

What difference has come in your daily routine after being nominated as chief ministerial candidate of the party?

During normal days, I used to attend to people from my constituency for around one-and-half hours after 9 am at my camp office (residence) and patients at my clinic from 11 am to 1 pm. But now I have no time to attend to the patients. The entire day passes in political meetings.

What is your priority in these days?
A lot of work is to be done. I am focusing my mind to piece together my vision of a better Delhi which is prosperous, model of development, transparent and corruption-free. The vision will soon come in the form of ideas in our manifesto. I don’t believe in mere criticism by giving solution to various problems.

How will you contain corruption and price rise, if voted to power?

Corruption occurs mainly at the interface of government machinery and public. Here at this interface, some transaction of goods or services takes place, we have to make this transaction completely transparent by using the latest technology and e-governance.

What are the challenges before BJP in the upcoming assembly elections?
I don’t think there is any challenge and we will emerge with clear majority. People are fed up with the misrule of Congress and they will throw out this corrupt government.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal claims that he will sweep the elections and form the next government?

AAP is just a party among over 1,300 political parties in the country. Indian Constitution envisages a multi-party system so every person has a right to form his political party. I don’t think he can be a challenge for BJP.

Congress claims that it will get power for the fourth time on the basis of its development works?
They boast about the Delhi Metro and flyovers which were initiated by the BJP government between 1993 and 1998 in Delhi. They cheated people by making fake promises to regularise unauthorised colonies in last election, Congress has made Delhi a big slum.

The news of infighting is coming out from your party. How will you tackle this internal challenge?

The infighting is all a media creation. There is no infighting in the party. We are working together to form our government in Delhi and to give the maximum number of Lok Sabha seats to our party to make our popular leader Narendra Modi ji, prime minister of India.

It’s said party president Vijay Goel has appointed his favourite persons on various posts. Will you remove some of them to have your hold on the party?

No. I must make clear that not even a single party worker appointed at any post will not be removed. Neither I am intend to do so nor am I authorised to do it. It’s only within the jurisdiction of the party president. I am comfortable with every office bearer and we are working in tandem.

Will your anointment effect ticket distribution?
I must make it clear that all the news regarding ticket distribution in the media is merely a guess and has no substance. We are holding seat-wise discussion on the prospective candidates. I hope the list will come before Diwali.

What is your election strategy?
We are focusing on door-to-door and family to family-to-family contact. We are also using all the latest technologies such as Facebook, Twitter, rallies, road shows and mobile vans to boost the campaign.
