2 foreign nationals held with chemical used in making fake currency notes

Two foreign nationals were detained on Tuesday morning at IGI airport as they were allegedly carrying 20 packets of paper and 600 ml chemical, which is allegedly used to make fake currency.

Sources have informed that the accused were scheduled to leave for Kolkata from Spice Jet flight - SG104. The accused have been identified as Ismail Kourouma and Jennifer Williams, both are citizens of Guinea.

‘Around 7 am, the airline security staff suspected on them and after examining their luggage they found these materials from their possession. ‘The airline staff then inquired about the materials but didn’t get any satisfactory answers from them. Later, they were handed over to CISF, who then further handed them over to Delhi police,’ said the  source from the airport, requesting anonymity.
It  further added, ‘each of these packets contain 100 papers. Apart from that, they were also
carrying a chemical which is used to make fake currency..’

Meanwhile, police confirmed that the accused were detained. ‘We are investigating the matter. It can not be established, as yet that the accused are involved in producing fake curreny. We are examining their call details and trying to find out what was the real motive to carry this material with them. It is still too early to arrive at any conclusion until we get some concrete evidence against them,’ said MI Haider, deputy commissioner of police (IGI Airport). He, however did not rule out the possibility that the materials could be used to make the fake currency.

Investigations are underway in the case and no report was filed against the duo till the time of filing this report, he added.
