West Bengal Zoo Authorities to take over Eco Park's deer park

West Bengal Zoo Authorities will take over the deer park in Eco Park for its proper maintenance.
The deer park is situated on a 10 acre land in Eco Park which was named Harinalaya by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
A meeting was held between Debashis Sen, chairman Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) and V K Yadav, director West Bengal Zoo Authorities to discuss the modes to be followed to transfer the deer park. It has been decided that there will be revenue sharing. A formal agreement between HIDCO and WB Zoo Authority will be signed soon. There are 62 deer including two calves who were born in the park.
The deer park is now being looked after by the state Forest department along with
HIDCO. Before setting up the park, HIDCO authorities got in touch with the National Zoo Authority and took its suggestions.
Harinalaya is one of the major attractions of Eco Park renamed as Prakriti Tirtha by the Chief Minister. The deer park has a restaurant and a huge arena here where the deer move around freely. The park will be handed over to the West Bengal Zoo Authority for its better upkeep. The Zoo Authority will release more deer of different varieties soon.
