Nimta murder case: 2 more arrested
Kolkata: The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended two more persons in connection with the murder of Nimta TMC leader Nirmal Kundu on June 4.
"We conducted a raid on the basis of a secret input on Friday afternoon under Bishnupur police station area in South 24-Parganas with assistance from Bishnupur police station and arrested two persons involved in the murder. Both of them, Subir Das, alias Biltu, and Biswajit Kundu, alias Biswa, are residents of Nimta," a senior CID official said. The two were produced at Barrackpore court on Saturday and were remanded in judicial custody. The CID sleuths will conduct Test Identification (TI) parade of the duo. The CID had earlier arrested one Sudip Das alias Laltu, from the residence of one of his relatives at Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. Nirmal Kundu, the TMC president of ward 6 of North Dum Dum Municipality, was shot dead on June 4.
It may be mentioned that before the CID took over the investigation of the case, the Nimta police station had managed to arrest one Suman Kundu, who had admitted to hiring contract killers to murder the TMC leader. Suman was also a Trinamool worker in Nimta who had joined BJP a few months before the Lok Sabha elections.
After interrogating him, the cops nabbed one of the contract killers, Sujoy Das, from Uttarpara.
