Man climbs up train's roof, touches high voltage overhead electric wire, dies
Kolkata: A man died after he climbed up the roof of a train and touched a high voltage overhead electric wire on Sunday night at Malda Town railway station.
The man was rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed later. According to sources, on Sunday, a person identified as Binod Bhuniya (40) of Hazaribagh in Jharkhand was waiting at the station with his wife and three children. An altercation broke out between Bhuniya and his wife over some family issue. During the altercation, Bhuniya suddenly climbed up the roof of New Delhi-Farakka Express which was waiting at the railway station. Other passengers and his wife started screaming and requested Bhuniya to come down. Station Master of Malda Town railway station Dilip Chauhan was also informed. But before any help arrived, Bhuniya reportedly touched the high voltage overhead electric wire and fire broke out immediately.
Bhuniya fell on the roof of the train. Railway staff brought some fire extinguishers and sprayed on Bhuniya. Fire brigade was also informed. But before arrival of fire brigade, the fire was doused and Bhuniya was rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital with severe burn injuries. He died there late on Sunday night. Sources informed that Bhuniya had reportedly committed suicide over the altercation with his wife.
The police are trying to know why the altercation broke between Bhuniya and his wife. Also, the police are probing if he was going through depression.
His wife is being questioned. An unnatural death case has been lodged. His wife claimed that Bhuniya committed suicide due to the altercation.
