Jhargram district to have three sub-divisions

Kolkata: The newly formed Jhargram district will have three sub-divisions. The state Cabinet has given its nod in this connection and the three sub-divisions are Belpahari, Gopiballavpur and Jhargram Sadar.
Jhargram district was created by bifurcating West Midnapore district and it came into existence on April 4 in 2017.
The newly formed district has eight community development blocks, eight panchayat samitis, 10 police stations, 79 gram panchayats and 2,996 mouzas.
A few months after coming to power, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had made Jhargram a police district and it had helped in improving the law and order situation in the area. Later, the police district has been upgraded to the status of a district.
After the formation of the district, the state government has taken up all sorts of measures to ensure an overall development of the district.
Steps have been taken to set up a helipad to improve the air-connectivity, besides improving the roads. Steps have also been taken to promote the district as a destination for tourists as well. Now, with the sub-divisions getting earmarked, it would be easier for both the administrative officials and police to function in a better manner. The necessary task for the newly created sub-divisions will start soon.
