ER GM honours employee with safety award

Kolkata: Harindra Rao, General Manager, Eastern Railwayhonoured an employee, Barister Ram, with Safety Award for his diligent work towards ensuring safety in train operations in a high-level meeting on Safety & Punctuality held at ER HQ on Tuesday.

Ram detected a crack in the coach of 25657 up at Sealdah maintenance pit on May 21 and alerted authorities. The broken spring was promptly replaced by a new one and the coach was made fit to run.

His sincerity and alertness helped in avoiding an untoward incident. As a result of massive ticket checking drive conducted by Eastern Railway all over its jurisdiction in June, altogether 2,28,583 persons were detected travelling without or with improper ticket and carrying unbooked luggage and an amount of Rs 5,37,26,864/- was realised from those offenders as fare & fine.
