'I got bored of singing sad songs'
Giving three big hit songs for Bollywood was not enough for 23-year-old Darshan Rawal, who recently came up with his individual song 'Do din' in collaboration with Sony music.
For a change, the specialist in sad love songs has come up with a peppy new single "Do Din". Giving another surprise to his fans, he was seen dancing in the music video. Talking about the song, he revealed that everyone around him wanted him to explore the happy side of music and this is how most of my recent songs including 'Chogada', 'Kamariya' and 'Sonedo' happened.
"All the individual songs I have been doing for so many years are very sad. Either I die or the girl dies. I really got bored of dying and seeing people die in my songs. Which is why I decided to make a happy love song", he said. Darshan, who rose to popularity with India's Raw Star always knew that people would see him on television or internet. He knew he would make it big.
Expressing his views about reality shows, the singer feels that such shows are 95% real but the other 5% has to be scripted because if there is no 'masala' in it, people won't watch it.
"I myself have always been against the 'scripted thing' in reality show. So, when I first got a call from the show, I denied the offer. I reaction was'I am not into reality shows, they are not real.' But then they convinced me saying "we are allowing the artists to do their original songs as well."
And this was a strong reason for Darshan to sign the reality show. Darshan is often compared with Arijit Singh. He is often told that how Arijit reminds people of their first feeling of love and Darshan, on the other hand, is known for reminding them of their breakups with his sad songs.
"It used to really annoy me. I don't want to be someone…I would want to become like them but not them…I am Darshan Rawal and I am happy with that. In the starting of my career someone told me, 'till the time you don't give a super hit song you will be compared'... and it happened. After one chartbuster, the comparisons stopped," the singer, who looks up to Arijit as an inspiration said.
Darshan is quite clear about his plan for the coming time. He would be making more such 'happy songs' as he feels people today, connect more with groovy songs than the melodies. Also, the singer revealed that he will be doing many collaborations with Indian as well as International artists in the coming future.
