Resident doctors of Lok Nayak hospital call off their strike
New Delhi: Acting over the government assurance, resident doctors of Lok Nayak Hospital have called off the indefinite strike, which they have commenced on April 29, 2019.
To addresses their grievances, the resident doctors met with principal health secretary and demanded their remaining payments of around 2-3 months salary and arrears after the implementation of 7th pay commission.
"The secretary had called the meeting to hear their grievances and appealed them to drop the agitation," said a junior doctor. Moreover, the authority has also ordered the release of their pending salary and dues by May 15, 2019.
Health services including surgeries and out-patient department operations in the Hospital were hit badly as the strike by the doctors entered the second day.
Patients were seen roaming helpless in the compound of the hospital OPDs.
Most of the patients were asked to revisit the hospital and registration of new patients on the day were almost suspended due to the strike. While emergency services were operational, services in the OPD, wards and routine operation theaters were not working to capacity between 9am and 4pm in the hospital, said a senior doctor of the hospital requesting anonymity.
