End boycott for students' sake: DU urges teachers
New Delhi: The Delhi University administration on Friday urged the striking teachers to come back to work and start evaluating exam sheets, in the interest of the students.
In a meeting on Friday, several deans and college principals expressed "serious concern" at the strike, fearing that it may lead to delay in declaration of results of thousands of undergraduate students.
"It is appealed to all teachers concerned, in the larger interest of the career of students, to immediately join the process of evaluation work at their respective evaluation centres and evaluate answer-scripts," the varsity said in a statement.
Hundreds of DU teachers are on strike, demanding ad hoc teachers to be made permanent and colleges not be given 'financial autonomy'.
