Over hundred residents of Ramgarh village in Badshahpur area Gurugram clashed with the Gurugram Police on Tuesday afternoon regarding a misunderstanding. The villagers were protesting against the Ansal builder construction taking place on the three and a half acre land which they claimed is legally disputed.
Several officers sustained severe injuries and among them was the SHO Rajendra Yadav who was hit by a brick on his forehead. Yadav is undergoing treatment. Also, the women were injured. After several hours of mayhem, the order was restored.
The villagers allege that the builder has paid them inadequate compensation for the sale of the land and so they have terminated it.
When the locals observed the labourers trying to build a boundary wall, they started to protest. Soon, cops were called in. But, the crowd started pelting stones as they thought that the officers were siding with the builder.
"The clashes were a result of a misunderstanding. The villagers are extremely agitated as their case has been lingering in the high court for a long time. They feel cheated by the system which is not the case," said a cop.
In the recent past, various villagers have protested against not only private builders but also public agencies like HUDA for the same.
