After spike in diarrhoea cases, now dengue and malaria scare
Gurugram: While the number of patients suffering from diarrhoea does not seem to ebb in Gurugram, a sudden spike is expected in the number of vector-borne diseases like dengue, chikungunya, and malaria. According to sources, there are over 10 suspected cases of dengue. However, none of them has been found to be positive.
On Tuesday, senior officials of the district administration met to devise measures to tackle the outbreak of the diseases. Large-scale construction activities happening in Gurugram is proving to be a challenge in tackling vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. With most of these sites having poor drainage facilities, water can still be found stranded in these places, making it ripe for the larvae to grow. Besides construction activities carried out by private builders, there are also large-scale developmental activities going on to revamp the city's infrastructure across various parts of the city. At most of these sites, large pits are dug in the initial stages of the construction, which results in water getting stored.
The administration is yet to deal with the challenge of diarrhoea cases that does not seem to subside.
