3 held for killing SP leader in Gautam Buddh Nagar

Greater Noida: Three persons have been arrested by Gautam Buddh Nagar police in connection with the murder case of a Samajwadi Party leader in Dadri area of Greater Noida on May 31. Police investigations revealed personal enmity over property dispute to be a reason behind the murder.

30-years-old Ramtek Katariya was shot outside his house in Garhi village in Dadri area on May 31st afternoon. Police, on Wednesday, arrested three persons, who have been identified as Baleshwar Katariya and Kapil, both natives of Garhi village and Nitesh from Kheri Bhanota village in Greater Noida.

Vineet Jaiswal, Superintendent of Police (rural), Gautam Buddh Nagar ruled out any political rivalry behind the murder.

"Following the incident, victim's kin have alleged a few persons from their distant relatives to have killed Katariya over an old personal enmity and an FIR naming seven persons was registered at Dadri police station. The accused were absconding after the incident while police were making efforts to trace them at various suspected hide outs. On Wednesday, police arrested three persons in connection with the case while soon we will nab other accused as well," said Jaiswal.

The officer further said that the murder was a fallout of an old personal enmity between two families in distant relations.

"Upon sustained interrogations, it came to light that the main accused Baleshwar suspected Katariya to have killed his elder brother Ramesh whose body was found near railway track in Aligarh district in January 2019. He also feared a life threat from Katariya and plotted conspiracy to kill him. The accused confessed to have committed the crime while the car and weapons used in the murder have been recovered from their possession," added Jaiswal. Police have recovered the alto car used and crime and three illegal pistol from their possession.
